Is an Associate Professor and Head of the Estonian Centre for Engineering Pedagogy at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech), Estonia. She also leads the Centre for Teaching Excellence at TalTech’s School of Engineering. She holds two MSc degrees in chemical engineering and technology from TalTech, and a PhD in engineering pedagogy from the University of Hradec Králové, supervised by Prof. Adolf Melezinek, founder of International Society for Engineering Pedagogy (IGIP). Since 2003, she has been an active member of IGIP, earning her ING.PAED IGIP qualification in 2004. She currently serves as the President of IGIP and has been a member of its Executive Committee since 2010. Her professional focus lies in engineering pedagogy, curriculum development, STEM didactics, STEM teacher education, and mentoring. Dr. Rüütmann has published over 90 scientific articles and is the author of a handbook on engineering pedagogy. She has supervised more than 60 master’s theses and several doctoral dissertations. Internationally, she collaborates with academic partners through IEEE EDUCON, NORDTEK, and the Nordic-Baltic Network in Higher Education Development. She has served as chair and organizer of major international conferences, including IEEE EDUCON and ICL. Her contributions have been recognized with the IGIP Adolf Melezinek Meritorious Service Award, IEOM Global Engineering Education Award, and others. In 2020, she was named a contributor to the IFEE/GEDC book “Rising to the Top,” which highlights global women engineering leaders. A strong advocate for digital pedagogy and AI integration, she supports global faculty development and mentoring. She is committed to international collaboration in engineering education and aims to strengthen pedagogical leadership through inclusive, innovative, and future-focused strategies that enhance teaching excellence and learner engagement across diverse educational systems.
