Do you want to learn how to design qualitative educational research to better understand what happens in your classroom?
You will learn how to:
- Formulate educational research problems and questions based on real-world teaching and learning situations.
- Design coherent qualitative research studies, considering the research question and the nature of the evidence you need to collect.
- Select participants and sources of evidence and apply data collection strategies such as interviews, focus groups, observation, and artifact analysis.
- Analyze qualitative data using thematic analysis, from familiarization and coding to identifying patterns, themes, and evidence-based claims.
- Interpret evidence and develop explanations or conceptual models to better understand educational phenomena.
- Assess the quality, credibility, and limitations of the evidence, considering aspects such as reflexivity and the ethics of teacher-researchers.
- Recognize when to incorporate mixed methods and understand how qualitative evidence can be complemented with quantitative information.
Throughout the course, you will work with real-world challenges from your own teaching practice and progressively develop a mini educational research project that can be applied in your own context.
Join a community committed to advancing educational research and strengthening teaching capacities in Higher Education.
