The Chimborazo Polytechnic School (ESPOCH) held a series of events as part of “Diversity Week,” a space dedicated to strengthening inclusion and equity in the university environment.

These activities were organized by the Academic Vice-Rector’s Office, led by Jenny Basantes, Academic Vice-Rector of ESPOCH. Diversity Week is part of the activities carried out by the institution as a member of the international EENTITLE project.

The EENTITLE project aims to improve the teaching, evaluation, and recognition mechanisms for engineering professors in higher education institutions (HEIs) in Ecuador. Its purpose is to promote and reward teaching excellence and skills development, especially in the use of digital environments, while ensuring equity, inclusion, and professional recognition at the international level.

ESPOCH, as an active member of this network, was responsible for completing work package No. 7, focused on inclusive social recognition. Within this framework, several activities were planned for both the polytechnic community and partner institutions.

Among the highlights were: the web meeting “Disability and Specific Educational Needs in Higher Education,” the interactive talk “Take the Walk of Privilege” held on May 6, the meeting “Good Inclusive Practices in Higher Education,” the web meeting on “Inclusive Adaptations in Skills Development Center Spaces,” and the artistic event “Let Your Art Speak for You,” where creativity becomes a bridge to inclusion.

These activities included the participation of Ecuadorian universities that are part of the EENTITLE project, strengthening inter-institutional cooperation and promoting more inclusive and equitable higher education. Also present were the Ecuadorian Corporation for the Development of Research and Academia (CEDIA) and the Secretariat of Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (Senescyt).

With this agenda, ESPOCH reaffirms its commitment to diversity and the construction of a university environment where all students and teachers have the same opportunities for development and recognition.
