ESPOL inaugurated the Center for Capacity Development as part of the EENTITLE project

The Center for Research and Educational Services (CISE) evolved into the new Center for Capacity Building, within the framework of the EENTITLE project, co-financed by the European Union's Erasmus+ program and designed to strengthen Ecuador's higher education ecosystem.

The inauguration event was held on July 8 at ESPOL’s Gustavo Galindo Velasco campus and was attended by César Vásquez, head of Senescyt; Pablo Beltrán, president of the Higher Education Council; and Ximena Córdova, president of the Higher Education Quality Assurance Council.

This center aims to improve teaching, evaluation, and recognition mechanisms for engineering professors at Ecuadorian universities, as well as promote and reward excellence in teaching related to the use of digital environments.

“The center will not only benefit our teaching staff, but will also be open to colleagues from other higher education institutions in Guayaquil and throughout the country. It will be a national pilot project with a regional vision and global impact,” explained ESPOL Rector Cecilia Paredes.

The rector also highlighted the participation and collaboration of Milagro State University, Loja National University, and Chimborazo Polytechnic School, which are part of the EENTITLE project, seeking to have a positive impact on teacher training.

After the inauguration, attendees entered the room set up for this center and learned about the technological devices such as cameras, microphones, screens, and acoustic panels, which will allow for an immersive experience in the classrooms.

José Carlos Quadrado, president of the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE), highlighted that Ecuador tops the list of South American countries with international accreditations.

“In Ecuador, things are done with meaning. It is hard work, and you do it very well,” said the official, who took advantage of his participation to present an International Professional Engineering Educator Registered (IPEER) award to ESPOL’s Vice-Rector for Teaching, Paola Romero.
